Main deliverables/outputs include the following
  • Identification of solid waste collection processes/systems and sites shown in (a)map(s) (including transfer stations and final disposal sites) and the players/actors/stakeholders within the city of Accra
  • Identification and prioritization of value chains within all the solid waste streams (components of solid)
  • Identification of job offers or opportunities for youth within the value chain of solid waste management
  • Conducting youth/focus group meetings to investigate youth’s interests in specific skill training within the value chain of solid waste management for income generations
  • Assessment of youth’s access to finance opportunities and constraints youth face
  • Identification of financial service providers that youth can be linked to, to help them engage in employment or self-employment
  • Identification of Business Service Providers and types of complementary services to be offered the youth after the vocational training , and the provider’s capacity to provide business for those services to the target group
  • A final report on all the above listed items and most importantly, the identified marketable vocations youth should be trained in within the value chain of solid waste management to create sustainable employment
